The Texas McCombs Full-Time MBA program is structured logically over two years. The first semester consists of core subjects that are designed to give students a world-leading grounding in such areas as business government, marketing and accounting. From the second semester onwards, the course can be tailored to suit each student’s career objectives, with 100 different electives to choose from. On top of this, McCombs offers one-to-one business coaching in order to help students develop practical skills through experienced, tailored advice. Interestingly, unlike many US business schools who primarily feed into the consulting sector, the largest proportion of McCombs MBA graduates enter the tech sector. This has much to do with Texas’ rising status as a real rival to Silicon Valley, as well as McCombs’ own connection to venture capital and legacy of innovation. The top recruiters of McCombs MBA graduates also reflect this association with the cutting edge, with the list including such leading tech names as Dell, Apple, Amazon, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft.
